Volunteers and Friends Policy
Application: Library Director
The Library Board of Trustees encourages individuals and groups to volunteer their time and efforts in the service of the Cape Vincent Community Library.
Volunteers shall perform tasks as directed by the Library Director. Due to privacy/confidentiality policy restrictions, volunteers, unless authorized by the Board of Trustees, are not allowed to use the Sirsi system.
The Friends of the Library is a formal association of people who unite to plan and execute, in conjunction with library goals and the needs of the Library Director, programs and events to benefit the library. In particular, The Friends of the Library are involved in fund-raising. The Friends of the Library serve at the pleasure of the Library’s Board of Trustees which is the only body with legal authority to set policy for the development of the library.
Responsibility:
The Library Director is responsible for coordinating with The Friends of the Library. The Library Director, or his/her designee, is responsible for assigning all duties and responsibilities of volunteers using the Board of Trustees policy mandates as guidelines.
