Board of Trustees Meeting
February 18, 2021

President Bolton called the Trustees’ meeting to order at 4:02 p.m.


Secretary’s Report:

The minutes of the January 21, 2021, meeting were approved on a motion by C. Jinks and seconded by S. Connerton (5-0).


Treasurer’s Report:

Mary Rupp shared and discussed with the Trustees the monthly Treasurer’s Report for January 2021. On a motion by E. Bolton seconded by M. Titus, the Trustees approved the Treasurer’s report. All voting aye (5-0).

Old Business:

Trustees voted to approve the 2021 budget on a motion by M. Titus and seconded by C. Jinks. The motion carried; all voting aye (5-0).

New Business:

The Annual Report was sent by the Library Director to Trustees in advance of the meeting for their review. At the meeting Trustees discussed with the Director the contents of the report. Trustees thanked the Director and Treasurer for the amount of time they put into preparing the report. K. Pierce made a motion to approve the Annual Report for 2020. S. Connerton seconded and carried; all voting aye (5-0).

Director’s Report:

Director Pond reported on the following items:


Copies of all the updated Library policies were given to each Trustee.

A copy of the proposed Library’s Pandemic Response Plan was given to each Trustee for their review and comments to be shared at the March Trustee meeting.


Shared that we have met the required signatures on the petition to be submitted to the Thousand Islands School District requesting that the Library’s proposition be placed on the ballot for the May vote of the school district’s budget vote/election.

Reminded Trustees of upcoming workshops via Zoom to be held on February 23 at 2p.m. at on the Landmines of Library Advocacy and on February 26 at 1 and 2 p.m. to meet with our representatives, Senator Patty Ritchie and Assemblyman Mark Walczyk, as part of Library Advocacy Day.

Reported that the loft has been painted by a Village DPW employee. New light fixtures will be purchased to replace old, outdated fixtures in the loft and in the cubbies.

Colonial Welding has installed the new fireproof drop box. An invoice will be sent soon.

The Library’s Absolute Charter that was sent via email was briefly discussed.

New minimum standards are in place for 2021. A worksheet from NCLS on the minimum standards was reviewed. Trustees and the Director came to a consensus that one standard per meeting would be discussed and worked on. Work began on Standard #5 at the meeting. Trustees were asked to review for the March meeting Standard #6, Assessment of program, services, and collections.


Next Meeting:

The next Trustees’ meeting is March 18, 2021, at 4 p.m. at the Library.

At 5:25 p.m., with no further business, E. Bolton made a motion to adjourn; seconded by M. Titus and carried; all voting aye (5-0).
